The First Order of Merit Season

2003 marked the introduction of Le Tournoi's annual Order of Merit competition, with golfers competing across the season for the title of overall champion.

The opening event at Rochester & Cobham Park Golf Club was won by Chris Asher, while Dan Czaplinski went on to become the inaugural Order of Merit champion, finishing the season with 38 points.

The opening event also produced one of Le Tournoi's most infamous moments: Alan Kenney's legendary one-point round. Arriving dressed like David Duval (including the wrap around shades) and sporting the first electric golf trolley anyone in the society had ever seen, Alan looked every inch the professional. He scored one point on the opening hole โ€” stroke index 10, playing off a 28 handicap โ€” and then proceeded to score precisely zero points over the remaining 17 holes.

One point. Eighteen holes. Never seen again. A legend was born.
