Le Tournoi Golf Society
Our Story
Le Tournoi Golf Society — Established 2002
Le Tournoi was founded in 2002 by a group of golfers from Medway, Kent, who shared a passion for the game and had enjoyed a number of golfing holidays abroad together.
What began as a group of friends travelling overseas to play golf developed into the idea of creating something more regular closer to home. Le Tournoi was born, providing an opportunity to get together throughout the year, enjoy competitive golf and maintain the friendships formed on those trips.
The inaugural Le Tournoi event took place in 2002, with the first full Society season following in 2003.
Two Societies, One Future
Meanwhile, another golf society was developing its own traditions in Medway. Based at the Falcon pub in Gillingham, the Falcon Golf Society revamped its programme of society golf days in 2006.
With a number of golfers participating in both societies, the overlap eventually became difficult to sustain. Rather than continue competing for the same players and dates, the two societies decided to join forces.
In 2010, Le Tournoi and the Falcon Golf Society merged, bringing together their members, friendships and golfing traditions.
The merger also left a lasting mark on the Society's identity. The prominent falcon featured on the Le Tournoi logo is a tribute to the Falcon Golf Society and the part it played in shaping the Society we know today.
The Le Tournoi of Today
More than two decades after that first event, Le Tournoi continues to bring golfers together for regular Society days, friendly competition and the enjoyment of the game.
Today, we hold nine Society events each year: eight competitive events from March to October, plus a more relaxed Christmas event in late November or early December, visiting golf courses across Kent, Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex, Essex and Greater London.
Our history is an important part of who we are, but so too are the friendships, good-natured rivalries and shared experiences that make each season memorable.
We're an established Society with our own traditions, but we're always happy to hear from golfers who may be interested in becoming part of our story.
